This edition of TSSP celebrates Law Day on May 1, 2021. This year's theme is "Advancing the Rule of Law Now." The rule of law is the bedrock of American rights and liberties—in times of calm and unrest alike. The 2021 Law Day theme reminds all of us that we the people share the responsibility to promote the rule of law, defend liberty, and pursue justice.

Join us from July 12-13, 2021 for the 2021 NCSS Summer Leadership Institute (SLI), Think Global - Act Local. As COVID-19 continues to affect us globally and unite us in efforts to combat the pandemic, we have noticed the need to also reconnect locally to create meaningful contributions to our communities. This year’s SLI will showcase ways to build strong connections between NCSS state, regional, and local councils and community organizations who share similar visions to advocate for and promote social studies. NCSS Position Statement Reviews
National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) is forming committees to review and revise two current position statements. These statements are ultimately approved by the NCSS Board of Directors and become official positions of our association. Apply by May 7, 2021 for one of the two committees being formed:
NCSS invites its members to apply to serve on an Operations Committee. Operations committees carry out board-mandated operations, duties, and policies, as well as many of the necessary business and organizational functions of NCSS. Apply by May 7, 2021.
Awards Committee and Awards Subcommittees Members
NCSS is currently accepting applications for members to serve on the NCSS Awards Committee and the NCSS Awards Subcommittees. The NCSS Awards Committee ensures consistency and fairness in the awards process, coordinates the awards program, and establishes awards guidelines while providing oversight of NCSS Awards Subcommittees. The NCSS Awards Subcommittees review nominations and select recipients of NCSS awards and grants. Apply by May 7, 2021.
