Happy Women's History Month! NCSS President Jennifer Morgan looks forward to a busy March, with appearances at SXSW Edu, the Tennessee Council for the Social Studies Annual Conference, and the Wisconsin Council for the Social Studies Annual Conference. 

NOW OPEN: NCSS seeks an Executive Director to advance the field of social studies education. A nonpartisan, membership association, NCSS and its members elevate the visibility and credibility of social studies education. The E.D. will set a bold and sustainable strategy that delivers high-quality programming, advocates for critical thinking and civil discourse, and fosters community among members.     You're Invited: Civic Learning Week Begins March 10

    The College and University Faculty Association (CUFA) Executive Board is delighted to report that Dr. Anne-Lise Halvorsen of Michigan State University has been selected to be the next Editor for Theory & Research in Social Education (TRSE). The CUFA Executive Board is excited about her vision for the future of the journal. She, along with her new team of associate editors, will begin their term on July 1, 2025. 

    CUFA is proud of the contributions that TRSE makes to the field of academic research, and is grateful for the leadership of outgoing editor Dr. Wayne Journell’s during his 9-year tenure. Under his leadership, the journal has expanded its scholarly impact, established meaningful mentoring initiatives, and built lasting partnerships across the field of educational research.     The NCSS International Assembly (IA) Distinguished Global Scholar Award is presented to a leading scholar in global, transnational, and international education who has dedicated their career to advancing the field. This award recognizes individuals whose work demonstrates:

    • Extensive scholarship in global education
    • Active engagement with educational stakeholders, including students, teachers, administrators, and policymakers
    • Significant contributions to promoting global, transnational, and international education in the United States and beyond
