NCSS is a proud partner and supporter of Civic Learning Week, which brings together students, educators, policymakers, and leaders in the public and private sectors to highlight and further energize the movement for civic education in states and communities across the nation.
Library of Congress Summer Institutes
Now through January 31, 2025, the Library is accepting applications for its three-day summer institutes for educators. Two general focus sessions will be offered, which are open to K-12 educators across all content areas:

July 16-18, 2025
Held at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., this professional development opportunity provides educators of all disciplines with resources and strategies to effectively integrate primary sources into K-12 classroom teaching. Each session will focus on pedagogy, with an emphasis on supporting student engagement, critical thinking, and construction of knowledge.While practicing these teaching strategies, attendees will explore some of the millions of digitized historical artifacts and documents available in the Library’s collections. They will also conduct research to identify primary sources and develop an activity related to their classroom content. Apply now.
Apply for a Little Free Library® 200k Library Grant Application
Individuals representing Title I elementary schools are invited to apply to be considered to receive one of the 200 Little Free Library book-sharing boxes that we are granting as part of the Little Free Library 200,000th library celebration, sponsored by Penguin Random House. Applicants must clearly demonstrate how children in particular will be served by a Little Free Library in their area. Apply here by Friday, January 31, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. CST.
Free Introduction to the Democracy in Action Curriculum
