2025 Essay and Multimedia Contests for Students
The NCSS 1787 Prize recognizes the best annual student essay on the subject of the U.S. Constitution’s past, present and future relevance by exploring how our written principles align with this vision of citizen engagement. Submissions are due March 31, 2025. The submission link and this year's prompt can be found here.
The 2025 Abdelkader Global Citizenship Prize Contests challenge students attending high schools and colleges in the United States to expand their worldviews as they engage critical thinking skills to study vibrant history vital for today. Submissions are due January 31, 2025. More information can be found here.
Save the Date for the 105th NCSS Annual Conference
Save the Date for next year’s NCSS Annual Conference to be held December 5-7, 2025, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. The Call for Proposals will open in December 2024.
National History Day's 2025 Teacher of the Year Award
History teachers are invited to complete this short form by Friday, January 3, 2025 to nominate themselves for consideration. Once the nomination period closes, affiliate-level nominees will be chosen to submit additional materials for consideration for the national award. In June 2025, one middle school and one high school teacher will each be presented with the 2025 NHD Teacher of the Year award and will each receive a $5,000 stipend.
