    Hispanic Heritage Month

    SEPTEMBER 15 - OCTOBER 15, 2023

    Hispanic Heritage Month serves as an opportunity to reflect on the achievements, traditions, and rich cultures of the Hispanic community. 
    The starting date, September 15, marks the anniversary of the independence of multiple Latin American countries.

    The 1787 Prize Essay Contest is Open

    To All High School Students in Grades 11-12 Essays Due March 31st, 2024, 1159 PM HST-1

    The 1787 Prize is an annual essay contest open to all high school students in grades 11-12. An essay may be submitted with up to three (3) student co-authors. There is a maximum of one (1) submission per high school. Essays must incorporate a mix of primary and secondary sources, include a footnote and bibliography, and be between 1,000-2,500 words. 

    Share this opportunity with your students, or apply for the 1787 prize selection committee. Please email awards@ncss.org with any questions. 

    Fall Conference: The Freedom to Teach
