    Deadline Extended - Apply for NCSS Task Forces by Nov. 30

    NCSS is calling all members to apply for one of three new task forces to review and potentially update current position statements.NCSS position statements are an important part of NCSS’ ongoing advocacy initiatives. Members with experience and/or current assignments related to teaching, research, curriculum development, supervision, and/or policy related to a position statement’s topic are encouraged to apply. Apply to join a NCSS Task Force.

    The application deadline has been extended to November 30, 2023.

    The Boys in the Boat

    Special Screening for #NCSS2023 Attendees
    MGM will hold a special screening of “The Boys in the Boat” in Nashville for NCSS attendees on Thursday, November 30 at 8 PM CT. This inspirational film, directed by George Clooney, is about the 1936 University of Washington rowing team that competed for gold at the Summer Olympics in Berlin.

    The leadership of the American Historical Association and the National Council for the Social Studies will share examples of advocacy efforts and educator support in the past year to protect social studies teaching and learning, while calling for increased social studies instructional time, and continued focus on vital social studies issues. Special focus will be given to 2023 advocacy efforts in Florida and Virginia. Learn more.
