    An award-winning filmmaker and speaker, Ms. Lam directed the documentary, Far East Deep South, which won the 2022 Telly Award and was named one of the best documentaries of 2021 by PBS and Video Librarian.

    Carl Azuz

    A news and features personality, Mr. Azuz is known for his objective reporting and impressive wordplay. As host of The World From A to Z, he emphasizes the importance of critical thinking and the power of compassionate conversations.

    Baldwin Chiu

    An award-winning film producer and hip hop artist, Mr. Chiu's family was also a subject of the documentary, Far East Deep South. With his wife, Larissa Lam, he co-founded Giant Flashlight Media, which produces educational, empowering content.

    Reminder - Call for Resolutions

    Reminder: Call for Resolutions 

    National Council for the Social Studies is currently accepting proposed resolutions for the 67th House of Delegates Assembly, to be held at the 2023 NCSS Annual Conference in Nashville. The deadline for submitting resolutions is August 31, 2023.

    July 26th Marks the 33rd National Disability Independence Day

    Tomorrow, July 26th, is National Disability Independence Day. On this day in 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was passed. As a member of the Educating All Learners Alliance (EALA), NCSS is committed to sharing resources that support the efforts of the education community to meet the needs of students with disabilities.

    National Council for the Social Studies is pleased to introduce two new team members, who joined us this June. Please give them a warm welcome! 

    Nancy Driver

    The NCSS Director of Publications, Nancy is originally from the Boston area, and has worked in academic publishing at the American Counseling Association, Georgetown University Press, and Rowman & Littlefield. She holds a B.A. degree in Classics from the University of Chicago, and she is active in the association management community.

    Kristian Beck

    As NCSS Digital Marketing Manager, Kristian is responsible for executing NCSS social media strategies, creating Annual Conference marketing, developing and editing digital content and more. Originally from the Florida Panhandle, she now lives just outside Boston, MA where she received her B.S. in Business Administration at Boston University.
