The International Assembly of NCSS invites scholars to submit a proposal to participate in the 2025 Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C on December 5th. Presenters can choose to participate either in a discussion-focused roundtable presentation or in a formal paper session. Proposals can now be submitted through May 31here.

Standards often fail to keep pace with modern technological and market demands, creating challenges for educators. How can we reimagine them to prepare students for a world shaped by AI and data science? On March 5th at 1 PM CT, join“Making Standards Worth Teaching To” at SXSW EDU to learn about bridging gaps between traditional teaching methods and the skills students need today. Join NCSS President Jennifer Morgan along with representatives from the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, Computer Science Teachers Association, and National Science Teaching Association to learn about bold initiatives to rethink standards so that they work for both educators and students. Opportunities from the National Endowment for the Humanities
Applications are now open to participate in a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Landmarks or Institutes program. Landmarks and Institutes are tuition-free opportunities for K-12 educators, higher education faculty, advanced graduate students, and other humanities professionals to delve deeply into a humanities topic in a one- to four-week residential, virtual, or combined format program. Hosted by the Center for Climate Literacy at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, the NEH Summer Institute: Teaching Climate Justice with Young People’s Literatures and Media will bring together 25 K12 teachers to explore how stories can empower young people to develop the skills, attitudes, values, and beliefs necessary to advance climate justice. From June 30-July 3, 2025, the Institute will be on Zoom. From July 14-25, the participants will convene in-person on the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities Campus. Together, participants will:
Study climate justice theory and pedagogy
Read and discuss literature for young people
Engage with leading climate justice scholars, activists, authors, and educators
Develop open-access educational materials
Grow our community of climate justice educators
Receive a $2850 stipend (taxable as income) to offset the cost of travel and lodging + books and other materials

2025 National Educator Shortage Summit
NCSS is proud to be a co-sponsor of the 4th annual National Educator Shortage Summit, held by the American Association of School Personnel Administrators (AASPA) on March 6-7 in Anaheim, CA. This event convenes focused groups of P-20 stakeholders to address the challenges of the national shortage of educators and the educator pipeline and share ways to replicate practices via a national strategy.
